Midnight Mania! Khabib Has Worst Possible Advice For Female Fighters

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight …

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked if he had advice for female fighters. The Dagestani took his time before giving his response.

Be a fighter inside your home.

The audience erupted into cheers. Khabib continued.

All the time, finish your husband. [more cheers] smash him really bad.

This is far from the first time a male mixed martial arts champion has expressed regressive views regarding the role of women in the sport. George St. Pierre earned the ire of female mixed martial artists a few years ago by expressing his admittedly ‘traditional’ views about women and cage fighting. Khabib’s compatriot Fedor Emelianenko is also on record disapproving of female fighters in mixed martial arts (though, oddly enough, boxing or wrestling are fine).

This also isn’t Khabib’s first brush with controversy. He advised his countrymen in an Instagram post about the immorality of rap music, he has endorsed criminal Russian oligarchs, and of course he ignited a post-fight brawl with Conor McGregor’s teammates.

UFC PR evidently told MMA media to refrain from any questions about Greg Hardy’s past, and MMA media complied.

No one told the UFC to sign Greg Hardy, who according to evidence and sworn testimony has a record of domestic violence (his conviction was overturned on appeal and expunged after he settled with the victim), and certainly no one told them to book him on the same card as very recent domestic violence survivor Rachael Ostovich.

The UFC will look to move Henry Cejudo vs. TJ Dillashaw to main event their January ESPN card in Brooklyn.

John Lineker shouldn’t be able to beat Dominick Cruz, but his power and aggression means the fight will be Cruz dancing on a knife edge.

We make fun of Tito Ortiz a lot but this is me in front of a camera too:

Down she goes

At least he tried…

This is why people don’t like PETA.

Speaking of animals, the Russians sent their cosmonauts into space with pistols: three-barreled pistols with a machete attachment. It makes sense once you realize that the pistols were for bear.

Dana White Strips Nicco Montano of Title, Ending Reign of Worst Champ Ever

Last December, Nicco Montano won a season of TUF and the women’s flyweight title, all in one fell swoop.

Today, she failed to step on the scale for her first title defense, and now, according to UFC boss Dana White, she’s no longer the champ.

Montano was supposed to face Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event of UFC 228. With the former 125-pound queen’s sudden exit, Shevchenko was left with no one to dance with, and the UFC was left scrambling.

You could say that probably factored into the UFC’s decision to strip Montano, but really, it probably has more to do with the fact that Montano simply hasn’t been able to make weight and fight. For ten months the new weight class has been on ice, with potential challengers ambling around like lunatics waiting for the ghost of Elvis to appear. That’s no bueno.

Here’s MMAFighting with the news:

UFC president Dana White said Friday on the FS1 UFC 228 weigh-in show that Montaño is no longer the UFC women’s flyweight champion after she was taken to the hospital Friday morning, stopping her weight cut short. Montaño’s title defense against Shevchenko was cancelled later in the morning.

White told interviewer Megan Olivi that the flyweight title is now vacant and Shevchenko will fight another opponent for the belt in the near future. White said that title bout will happen “before the end of the year.”

“The belt becomes vacated,” White said. “So, the title is vacated. Obviously, Shevchenko is dying to fight for this title. So we’re in the process right now of trying to make another fight.”

Midnight Mania! Watch Darren Till Claim ‘Worst Dad Ever’ Title

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Darren Till, who fights Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship in the headliner of UFC 228 on September 8, said with apparent sincerity that he doesn’t care about his family or daughter. His daughter, who lives in Brazil, hasn’t seen him in a year, his current girlfriend is seven months pregnant. Darren Till says he doesn’t care, he just cares about getting the belt and being the greatest.

Transcript via MiddleEasy.com:

“I’ve got a girlfriend who’s nearly seven months pregnant. I don’t really care. I’ve got a daughter in Brazil right now who I haven’t seen for one year. I don’t really care. I just care about legacy and greatness. That’s what I’m in this for.”

There is a certain level of selfishness that just comes with the territory for elite fighters and athletes, but this goes beyond that. Till, if we can take his comments seriously, doesn’t see his family as motivation and a source of stability the way other fighters do. Everyone from Cody Garbrandt to TJ Dillashaw to Daniel Cormier to Robert Whittaker… hell, even Jon Jones is proud of his family and kids. He doesn’t consider them at all. I can’t think of any other fighter who would openly admit to being that bad of a father. At 25, Darren Till is well on his way towards being the greatest… the greatest deadbeat dad in the sport of MMA.

Pic: We have a new ‘worst cut of all time’ thanks to this bloodied, split-open fighter (NSFW)

Just the other day, I woke up with dry lips and yawned. As a result, I got that little crack in my lip and whined like a wuss, because I never had my bottom lip cut in half during a Muay Thai fight and I don’t know any better.

At least we know what the inside of a lip looks like, in case anyone was wondering.

This ghastly injury happened to Putok Tor Surat at Rajadamnern earlier this month. I have no idea what the hell that means, but I’m assuming it’s A) a person and B) a fighting event of some kind.

In an unrelated note, I failed the geography portion of my G.E.D. exam.

So now that we’re talking about awful face wounds, remember when Jose Alday cracked his crown at Combate 12 back in March? Or when Brennan Ward nearly lost his eyeball at Bellator 170?

See those gruesome pics (because it beats Rotten.com) by clicking here and here.

Enjoy your lunch!
