Pic! Harris, Spitz Suffer Broken Bones In UFC Utica Clash

Bones were broken last night (Fri., June 1, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 131 from inside Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, N.Y., as heavyweight knockout artist Walt Harris injured his foot in a second-round TKO win over Daniel Spitz, who walked away with a broken arm.

Harris, who captured his fourth UFC finish in as many wins, had to be taken to the hospital following the victory due to an apparent broken foot sustained in the first round. He took to Instagram to showcase his ambulance ride and thank is supportive fans.

“We got it done baby! 2nd round KO! Bad news is I think I broke my foot in the first round! Thanks you all for your love and support it means the world to me!” wrote Harris.

Spitz, 27, was finished for the first time in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. But considering “Daddy Long Legs” broke his arm in the first 30 seconds of the fight, his performance commands a little more respect. Spitz provided X-ray proof of his injury in a post-fight Instagram post.

“First, I’d like to give respect to my opponent @thebigticket205. You were the better man tonight. I broke my arm in the first 30 seconds of the fight and I’m disappointed with the outcome, but grateful for the opportunity. Thank you to everyone that helped me along the way with this camp,” wrote Spitz.

I guess heavyweights really do hit hard.

Rencountre firing his jab. Low kick exchange. Muhammad buzzes him with a combo. Two minutes in. More low kicks by Muhammad. Overhand right lands on the fence and he stuffs a takedown. Wood lands a left hook, gets dinged by a wide right hand. Counter jab by Eduardo. Two minutes to go.

Back to the leg kicks from Wood, lands a left hand upstairs. Wood chases him down with jabs. Wood slips a combo. Low leg kick. Eduardo clips him with a right hand and uncorks a combination on the fence. One minute to go. Eduardo clubbing him with right hands. Eduardo backs off. Wood lands a long hook. 10-9 Eduardo.

125 lbs.: Jarred Brooks vs. Jose Torres

Round 1: Brooks circling, lands a left hook. He shoots early, stuffed, lands an uppercut. Hard 1-2 connects. Torres firing his jab. Brooks tries a spinning back fist. He fires a 1-2, then another spinning back fist that drops Torres a minute in. Brooks sprawls on him. Knees to the shoulder. More knees two minutes in. Torres still stuck on his knees. Torres works his way up and separates. Left hand from Brooks as they trade, straight right soon after. Two minutes to go.

Brooks tries to spin again. Torres still marching after him, lands a leg kick. Broks flashes the jab and hits a takedown, looking for the back. Both hooks in and he’s playing backpack with a minute to go. Body triangle. Brooks looking to crank on his chin. 10-9 Brooks.

Round 2: Brooks shoots early, cracks him with right hands on the break. Counter right by Torres. Torres ducks a back fist and drags him to his knees. Brooks with a sneaky elbow as he works his way up, avoids a suplex a minute in. He spins to face Torres and puts him on the fence. He tries to spin on the break. Wheel kick attempt. Torres continues to pressure. Two minutes in. Right hand lands for Torres, then a low-high combo. Brooks shoots, stuffed, eats knees. Brooks continues to drive and tries a Frankie Edgar/Gray Mayanard slam, only to knock himself unconscious in the process.
