CM Punk Opens As Betting Underdog Against Mike Jackson At UFC 225

The mixed martial arts (MMA) return of CM Punk is a highly-anticipated one, which is why combat fans were excited to see the former WWE superstar officially booked to fight Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on June 9 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

It will be just the second time that Punk is fighting professionally, having lost to Mickey Gall via first-round submission at UFC 203 back in 2016.

Despite reports that Punk is making huge strides in training, oddsmakers are still selling the former professional wrestler short when it comes to his chances of defeating Jackson this June.

According to recent betting lines put out by Bovada (h/t Damon Martin), Punk is currently slated as a +200 underdog, while Jackson comes in as a -260 favorite. That means a $ 100 bet on Punk will win you $ 200. Not too shabby, especially since the former WWE star is competing in front of his hometown crowd.

While Punk showed little skill in his debut against Gall 19 months ago, it’s surprising that Jackson is such a heavy favorite. Oddsmakers may be scared to level the playing field considering Punk is six years older, but Jackson is 0-1 in his professional career as well. That loss came against Gall, too, and lasted 90 seconds less than Punk’s debut.

Still, the oddsmakers have spoken. Assuming there’s going to be heavy promotion around this fight leading up to UFC 225, Punk’s +200 tag could come down as we draw closer to fight week. But who knows, maybe the pro wrestler really is just that outmatched, both on paper and inside of the Octagon.

UFC 225 will be headlined by a middleweight title rematch pitting current UFC champion Robert Whittaker against Cuban dynamo Yoel Romero. The card will also feature a co-main event tilt between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington for the interim welterweight title, while former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm welcomes Megan Anderson to the Octagon in a featherweight affair.

Holly Holm is comfortable as the underdog against Cris Cyborg at UFC 219

After years as an underdog in boxing and again against Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm ain’t care about the label leading up to her latest fight.

It’s kind of crazy that we keep considering former boxing and UFC champ Holly Holm an underdog, but that’s exactly what’s happening once again in the leadup to her WMMA fight of the year against Cris Cyborg at UFC 219 on December 30th. That’s no slight to Holly but more a nod to Cyborg’s dominating career.

Cris has an 18-1-1 record that has featured near omnipresent dominance. Holly Holm? Her UFC career has been marked by flashes of brilliance, which makes this fight all the more interesting. Holm discussed being comfortable with her underdog status during a media call for UFC 219.

“I think there are similarities with the feeling of it, knowing that people are having a little bit of doubt,” Holm said. “But I think that because I’ve done this more than once now in boxing, and it’s probably even more seen with Ronda, to be the underdog and come in, I think that people think ‘Oh, okay, Holly is capable of doing some of things,’ so I feel like there’s more of curiosity behind it. Not necessarily just thinking I can’t do it, but kind of ‘I wonder if she’s going to do it this time.’”

Regardless, Holm isn’t worried about this individual fight defining her legacy, win or lose.

“I know that a win would definitely be a huge thing for my legacy and my career,” she said. “But it’s definitely not something that would just define it right now. Even with a win I would still want to push forward and be succeeding after this fight. There have been fights in my career that I’ve won that have helped with what I feel is my legacy, but each fight is not the defining fight. It’s the whole career and every opponent that’s gotten me to here, the whole journey along the way.”

Holm and Cyborg will face off December 30th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre odds: ‘The Count’ opens as betting underdog against returning ‘Rush’ for UFC 217

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Michael Bisping will headline the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event against former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre, who returns from his lengthy layoff with some extra meat on his bones.

They’ll do the deed on Sat., Nov. 4, 2017 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, but if the opening odds from Bovada are any indication, “The Count” will enter his latest title defense as the betting underdog.

Bisping is sitting at +125 against St-Pierre’s -155.

“Rush” is currently swimming in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool, clearing his name (and his urine) before entering the Octagon this fall. Bisping, meanwhile, is rehabbing a knee injury that kept him sidelined since last October.

In fact, the countless delays forced promotion president Dana White to reassign St-Pierre to the winner of Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia; however, “The Chosen One” stunk up the joint at UFC 214 and lost his chance for a payday fit for a king.

So, any fight fans ready to jump on the Bisping vs. St-Pierre betting line?

Dancing with the Stars 2016 odds: UFC’s Paige VanZant a 10:1 underdog to win

Paige VanZant may be Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) newest sweetheart, but she isn’t getting any love from oddsmakers to win season 22 of “Dancing with the Stars.”

According to Bovada, “12 Gauge” is currently a 10:1 underdog to win the contest, which features several notable celebs from the sports and television entertainment worlds like Von Miller, Kim Fields and Antonio Brown, among others.

So who is the favorite? Dive in below to find out:

Odds to Win Dancing With the Stars Season 22

Wanya Morris 5/2
Von Miller 6/1
Antonio Brown 7/1
Kim Fields 15/2
Geraldo Rivera 15/2
Mischa Barton 10/1
Nyle DiMarco 10/1
Paige VanZant 10/1
Doug Flutie 12/1
Marla Maples 16/1
Jodie Sweetin 16/

Ginger Zee 16/1

VanZant, though, just may pull off the upset — she has an extensive dancing background (see some of her moves here). The multi-talented Strawweight hasn’t stepped foot inside the Octagon since suffering her first-ever loss at the hands of Rose Namajunas at UFC Fight Night 80 in Dec. 2015 in what proved to be a bloody war.

Dancing With the Stars premieres at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on March 21, 2016.
