Midnight Mania! Watch Brock Lesnar Back in Training

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

It’s been half a year since Brock Lesnar jumped into the cage and shoved newly crowned heavyweight kingpin Daniel Cormier, flashing decayed teeth as he cut a promo against the champion. The prospective bout with Cormier had a built-in roadblock, with Lesnar needing to finish out his USADA suspension for the anabolic steroids he was suspended for after UFC 200. (Mark Hunt is still angry about that, in case anyone was wondering). Six months on, its still unclear whether Lesnar will actually return to the cage. However, he did spend some time on the mats recently, which could be a good sign.

The skillset that brought Lesnar his fame and glory was developed in his college wrestling days. Now, Brock is back on the mats, practicing with Gable Stevenson at the University of Minnesota.

Could his motivation be to train for a bout with two-time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier in the UFC’s Octagon? We will get our answer in 2019.

Midnight Mania! Should Khabib Fans Be Worried About This McGregor Training Video?

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Conor McGregor is gearing up for his MMA return, and it seems he is not pulling punches in the gym. I mean that literally, as he is shown dropping training partner(s) in this heavily edited and condensed training montage.

He is seen throwing an elaborate spinning roundhouse kick, practicing his bodyshots, pairing his kicks with his punches, throwing jumping switchkicks like the version of McGregor that fought Max Holloway, sticking his training partners with side-kicks to the gut, and doing a LOT of wrestling. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace Dillon Danis can be seen prominently attempting to take him down, among others, and McGregor appears to drop one training partner with a shot to the head and seems to buckle another with a body blow.

Are Khabib fans worried, or confident?

McGregor faces Khabib at UFC 229 in Las Vegas, on October 6th.

Conor McGregor Already Training Hard for That Khabib Fight

Last week, troubled Irish lad Conor McGregor accepted a plea deal with the authorities in New York, putting his transgressions against a bus behind him.

Now he’s in the midst of training hard for the next big thing on his plate: a match-up against UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. And that training has apparently taken the form of working out in Central Park.

Look, it’s not really that special what McGregor is doing. You can’t walk 50 feet in that park without running across someone shadowboxing, practicing katas… heck, there are even occasional no-holds-barred fights in there.

But anyway, it’s Conor, so that warrants TMZ Sports capturing it on video.

Velasquez Now Training At WWE Performance Center

Work.

I guess Cain Velasquez has been gone from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for so long that he didn’t even realize the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion constructed a state-of-the-art training facility in Las Vegas.

Or maybe he felt more comfortable working on headlocks than leglocks.

“My experience here has been amazing,” Velasquez told WWE.com while training at the pro wrestling performance center. “I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”

Maybe he’s preparing for that cut to light heavyweight?

Velasquez (14-2) has competed just twice over the past five years, splitting a pair of bouts with Fabricio Werdum (loss) and Travis Browne (win). Plagued with injuries, the soon-to-be 36 year-old former champion doesn’t have much time left if he wants to make another run.

Especially if former opponent Brock Lesnar makes his UFC return in 2019.
