UFC Shanghai promo video for ‘Bisping vs Gastelum’ on Nov. 25 in China

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up to touch down in China once again, as the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the world will stage UFC Fight Night 122: “Bisping vs Gastelum” on Nov. 25, 2017 in Shanghai.

It’s a fight that came to be after Anderson Silva — who was supposed to face Kelvin in the headlining bout — was bounced from the card for a potential USADA violation, which marks “The Spider’s” second transgression in the last two years.

No fret, as former 185-pound champion Michael Bisping took the chance to step in on late notice just a few weeks removed from his submission loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 in New York, City.

As for Gastelum, he looks to erase the memory of his previous bout, which saw him get choked out, as well, by former title holder Chris Weidman at UFC on FOX 25. Despite losing out on yet another chance to face one of the greatest fighters of all time in Silva, Kevin feels his fight over “The Count” is even bigger.

UFC Fight Night 120 promo video preview for ‘Poirier vs Pettis’ event on Nov. 11 in Norfolk

Now that UFC 217 is in the books — complete results here — Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up for a quick turnaround, as UFC Fight Night 120 is set to go down inside Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday Nov. 11, 2017.

The Fox Sports 1 event will feature a pivotal Lightweight showdown as former division champion Anthony Pettis will face Dustin Poirier in what is sure to be a stand up war. “Showtime” is looking to collect back-to-back wins at 155 pounds for the first time in a long time after making the jump back up following a less than stellar tenure at Featherweight.

As for Poirier, he will look to get back on the winning track after fighting to a draw against Eddie Alvarez in his last outing. With a win, Dustin will collect the biggest win of his career and cement his standing in a 155-pound weight class that is filled to the brim with contenders eager for their invitation to the big dance.

Also, Matt Brown and Diego Sanchez will collide in the co-main event in a fight that could provide fireworks in the leading candidate to win “Fight of the Night” honors. Also, Andrei Arlovski makes his return to face Junior Albini in Heavyweight action.

Following UFC ‘Contender Series’ win, John Castaneda returns to Combate Americas for ‘Copa Combate’ on Nov. 11

When John Castaneda captured a dominant, unanimous decision win over Cheyden Leialoha as part of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, the general consensus was that “Sexi Mexi” was going to ride the pine until Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made him an offer.

Sorry, he’s got bigger fish to fry.

Castaneda will instead return to Combate Americas to enter “Copa Combate,” the historic one-night, eight-man bantamweight mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament taking place on Sat., Nov. 11, 2017 in Cancun, Mexico, with a grand prize of $ 100,000 awaiting the winner.

“We are excited to welcome John Castaneda back to Combate Americas, where he has amassed the most wins of any fighter in our young, but fast-growing organization, and delivered some of the most memorable moments ever in La Jaula with his explosive style of fighting and vicious knockout power,” said Combate Americas CEO and UFC co-founder Campbell McLaren.

Castaneda (14-2) is no stranger to the Combate brand, having racked up six straight wins with four violent finishes inside La Jaula. That includes last May’s devastating technical knockout win over five-time UFC veteran Chris Beal.

The “Copa Combate” tournament will be separated into four brackets with the top four combatants earning seeds based on their respective world rankings, while quarterfinal opponents will be determined via lottery ball drawing.

The remaining fighters for this November’s tournament extravaganza, featuring athletes from various parts of Latin America, as well as Spain and the U.S., will be announced in the coming days, along with ticket on-sale dates and information.

Joseph Duffy vs James Vick set for UFC 217 on Nov. 4 in New York

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently added an interesting lightweight fight to its upcoming UFC 217 blockbuster pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Nov. 4, 2017 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Joe Duffy vs. James Vick.

Duffy (16-2) is coming off back-to-back wins at UFC Fight Night 90 and UFC Fight Night 107. After choking out Mitch Clarke in summer 2016, “Irish Joe” captured a unanimous decision win over Reza Madadi the following March.

Vick (11-1) is also coming off consecutive wins, thanks to standout performances at UFC Fight Night 104 and UFC 211. “The Texecutioner” submitted Abel Trujillo last February, then planished Marco Polo Reyes just a few months later.

Fun fight. Who ya’ got?

UFC 217 will be headlined by the middleweight title fight pitting Michael Bisping against the returning Georges St-Pierre. In the bantamweight championship co-main event, Cody Garbrandt looks to settle his grudge match with former teammate TJ Dillashaw.

Combate Americas announces one-night, eight-man ‘Copa Combate’ tournament for $100,000 on Nov. 11

Combate Americas is taking it back to the old school.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) organization recently unveiled plans to host a one-night, eight man tournament set to go down on Nov. 11, 2017 in Cancun, Mexico, dubbed “Copa Combate.”

The winner will have to win three fights in one night in order to take home the $ 100,000 grand prize.

“We are excited to unveil the first ‘COPA COMBATE’ tournament ever, and to revitalize and deliver to fans one of the most compelling and athletically challenging formats for a live fight show,” said Campbell McLaren, CEO of Combate Americas.

No stranger to the format, Campbell hopes to replicate the success the one-night tournaments enjoyed in the early days of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) when he was in charge.

“When I launched the UFC 24 years ago, we changed the world and, on November 11, we are going to do so again with a dynamic tournament that assembles a collection of fighters that most deserve to represent their respective countries,” continued McLaren. “These fighters will put their national pride on the line with a substantial payoff.”

Interestingly enough, the event will take place on the 24th anniversary of UFC 1.

The tournamet will feature Bantamweight fighters, and the names of the participants will be shared in the coming weeks. According to the press release, “the eight competitors will be separated into four tournament brackets, with the top four fighters given seeded positions based on their worldwide rankings. Quarterfinal stage opponents for the four fighters will be determined based on a lottery ball drawing.”

Furthermore, each fighter will be representing his home country, making it a true international affair.

Keep it tuned to MMAmania.com as more details emerge in the days and weeks to come.
