Two of the very best bantamweight fighters in the world are drawing closer to a showdown inside of the UFC’s Octagon, as rising contender Marlon Moraes has signed his portion of a contract to fight Jimmie Rivera at UFC on FOX 28 on Feb. 24 in Orlando, Florida.
Moraes took to social media earlier today (Sat., Jan. 6, 2018) to share a picture of the signed contract and put Rivera on notice. According to Moraes’ post (shown below), he is also willing to fight Rivera on Mar. 3 at UFC 222 if “El Terror” wishes to postpone the inevitable.
Here you go @JimmieRivera135 I signed my bout agreement. @ufc on fox. I also agreed to fight you on march 3rd choose what day you want me to beat your ass B-I-T-C-H @seanshelby @danawhite @AliAbdelaziz00 pic.twitter.com/nrU8WTjacF

Remember, these two nearly locked horns at UFC 219 last month after John Lineker, who was filling in for an injured Dominick Cruz, was forced out of his bout with Rivera due to a bad tooth, but a disagreement about weight got in the way.
As current UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw relishes in his recent knockout victory over Cody Garbrandt and works towards a potential superfight with flyweight king Demetrious Johnson, Moraes and Rivera could be in line for a No. 1 contender’s bout.
That’s unless the promotion finally decides to throw this guy into the title shot mix.
During last night’s (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) UFC Fight Night 123 event inside Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California, Aljamain Sterling suffered a nasty knockout loss to Marlon Moraes in main card action.
Indeed, “Magic” clipped “Funkmaster” with a nasty knee to the face the stiffened Aljamain, forcing the ref to stop the action. It was a knockout Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White compared to Francis Ngannou’s demolition of Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 last week.
After getting carried out in a stretcher to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Sterling issued a statement last last night via social media.
Hats off to Marlon. Thought I timed the TD perfectly and he was able to land a nasty knee. Sucks to be the nail, but this is the fight game. I’m ok for all those asking
— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) December 10, 2017
Knowing Sterling was already out, credit has to be given to Marlon, as he immediately stopped his offensive attack and did not follow up with any unnecessary blows to his fallen foe.
And in victory, “Magic’s” thoughts were all on Sterling.
Thank God for the win but way more importantly praying that Aljamain is fine and 100 % healthy !! This game is nothing compared to our health . Must respect for him and his amazing team !

And while UFC broadcasters didn’t give fight fans an update regarding Sterling’s health status during the broadcast, Dana White did confirm in this post-event interview that Sterling was mobile and doing great.

Brian Kelleher got half of what he was asking for.
The bantamweight talent, who called for a fight with John Lineker at the UFC on FOX 25 event in Long Island, New York, on July 22, will compete at the event, but against Marlon Vera. MMA Fighting confirmed the news following a report by Newsday.
Kelleher (17-7) left an outstanding first impression in the Octagon, submitting jiu-jitsu black belt Iuri Alcantara in the first round at UFC 212, improving to 17-7 in the sport with his seventh straight victory.
Vera (11-3-1), who joined the UFC in 2014 after competing in the promotion’s first Latin American season of The Ultimate Fighter, knocked out Brad Pickett in his retirement fight last March in London.
