The always smiley Sam Alvey will make his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon early next year, as the middleweight knockout artist is expected to take on veteran Nate Marquardt at UFC on FOX 23 on Jan. 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo., per FloCombat.
Alvey, 30, has fought four times in 2016, securing a 3-1 record with two memorable finishes. After winning a unanimous decision over Alex Nicholson back at UFC Fight Night 98, Alvey extended his current win streak to three. He’s one of the more game brawlers in the middleweight division today and a guy who can use a victory over Marquardt to catapult himself into the top 15.
Marquardt, 37, recently got back into the middleweight win column with a head kick knockout of Tamdan McCrory back at UFC Fight Night 96. The former title challenger has produced a 3-3 clip since dropping back down to 185 pounds in 2014, but will look to start 2017 off with a bang against Alvey.
UFC on FOX 23 does not currently have a main event.
Bellator 148: ”Daley vs. Uhrich” takes place at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., on Jan. 29, 2016. The main event that night is a Welterweight showdown between dynamite striker “Semtex” Paul Daley an late Josh Koscheck replacement, “Stunner” Andy Uhrich.
Recently announced for the Spike TV-televised main card is an intriguing Lightweight showdown between Ryan Couture (10-3) — winner of four straight bouts (and undefeated so far in Bellator) — against long-time promotional veteran, Patricky Freire (14-7).
Couture was originally scheduled to face Derek Anderson, who picked up a second win over Freire on the main card of Bellator 147 in Dec. 2014, but ”Barbaric” withdrew because of an injury and Freire agreed to step up on short notice.
Freire will look to get back on track after losing two of his last three matches, while Couture hopes to continue his momentum toward a Lightweight title shot at “Ill” Will Brooks following his submission of Dakota Cochrane at Bellator 135.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is adding some welterweight flavor to its upcoming UFC 195 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place on Jan. 2, 2016, inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Kyle Noke.
Gastelum (11-2) is looking to rebound from a close split-decision loss to Neil Magny at the UFC Fight Night 78 card just last month. After starting his career a perfect 10-0, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 champ is now just 1-2 over his last three.
Noke (22-7-1), meanwhile, is riding a two-fight winning streak after coming up short against Patrick Cote in 2014. Following his split-decision win over Jonavin Webb in Australia, “KO” beat the brakes off Peter Sobotta at UFC 193 “Down Under.”
UFC 195 will feature the welterweight title bout between reigning champion Robbie Lawler and former interim titleholder Carlos Condit. Elsewhere on the card, Andrei Arlovski and Stipe Miocic bang it out for a spot in the crowded heavyweight title hunt.

Invicta Fighting Championships returns to UFC Fight Pass digital network for Invicta FC 15, which takes place on Sat., Jan. 16, 2015 inside The Hangar at OC Fair in Costa Mesa, California.
That’s where reigning Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane Justino will headline – at featherweight — against Russian-born grappler Daria Ibragimova. “Cyborg” will be putting her 145-pound strap on the line since her Ronda Rousey “super fight” is no longer that super.
Elsewhere on the card, UFC strawweight import Angela “Overkill” Hill makes her promotional debut against 5-1 striker and former atomweight Jodie Esquibel, while Livia Renta Souza puts her 115-pound title up for grabs opposite DeAnna Bennett.
Here’s the current Invicta 15 fight card and line up:
145 lbs.: Cristiane Justino (14-1-1) vs. Daria Ibragimova (9-1)
115 lbs.: Livia Renta Souza (8-0) vs. DeAnna Bennett (8-0)
105 lbs.: Amber Brown (5-1) vs. Lisa Ellis (15-10)
115 lbs.: Angela Hill (2-2) vs. Jodie Esquibel (5-1)
Additional bouts for Invicta FC 15 will be announced in the coming weeks.
