Midnight Mania! Jon Jones the fighter finally gets a tweet meant for Jon Jones the game designer

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

For years now, Jon Jones the game designer has been getting tweets meant for Jon Jones, the fighter. He’s acted as Jon’s internet spam filter, especially when Jon messes up, as has happened numerous times over the years.

Today, though, the tables turned for once, and “Bones” made it into a hilarious joke.

From what I can tell, Jason Dake was trolling here- he knows which Jon Jones he’s tweeting.

But Bones rolled with the joke, tagging Jon Jones, who for some reason he has kept blocked for the past five years.

Seeing tweets go to the right guy for once was incredibly satisfying for Jon Jones.

For reference, this is what he is talking about- the cognitive conditioning Santiago Ponzinibbio has been doing with Nic Davenport.

This is genuinely scary.

Some fight schedule updates- I hope Doo Ho Choi vs. Jeremy Stephens gets five rounds to play out, but Kamaru Usman and Emil Meek is a great fight as well.

It may be tame in the era of Trump, but Dana White jumping into the random conversations of internet nobodies is still peak Dana White.

Dustin Poirier has the important questions:

Robbie Lawler on why he’s not tried for a submission in the past twenty fights or so:

This is the CM Punk fight that actually makes sense- Mike Jackson (whose blog I used to contribute content to) is the guy Mickey Gall had to fight to get to CM Punk in the first place.

Here’s a video I never asked for: GSP was asked about the first time he had sex. His expression says it all.

This is what Dana White pictures in his head whenever fighters ask for more pay.

Colby Covington just picks fights with everyone

Kenny Florian’s trash talk wasn’t what got him his title shots, that’s for sure.

It took me a second while scrolling to realize what was off about this picture.

VIDEO: Georges St-Pierre Gets His Revenge on Matt Serra

Please allow me to set the stage for this video: The year was 2007, and the UFC welterweight division was ruled by a king who was seemingly unbeatable. His name was Georges St-Pierre, and we assumed he was unbeatable because he handily beat the previous guy who was unbeatable – Matt Hughes. But there was […]

Video: Colby Covington labels Sao Paulo a dump, gets booed at UFC Fight Night 119 open workouts

Why are fight fans booing Colby Covington?

Probably because the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender told the mixed martial arts (MMA) universe that Sao Paulo, Brazil — home of his UFC Fight Night 119 co-main event against Demian Maia — was a “dump.”

Sound familiar?

They get to work this Saturday (Oct. 28, 2017) on FOX Sports 1.

Covington (12-1) rebounded from a submission loss to Warlley Alves in late 2015 to capture four in a row, including last June’s unanimous decision win over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore.

Maia (25-7) worked his way up to a welterweight title shot by winning seven straight; however, it was all in vain as Tyron Woodley was able to repel the Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard in a long and boring title defense at UFC 214 last July.

Bellator 185 Results: Gegard Mousasi Just Barely Gets By Alexander Shlemenko

Whenever a UFC fighter enters free-agency and considers jumping ship for Bellator, there must be some internal math that includes in the equation how the competition is easier in Bellator. If so, that math is pretty damn wrong. In the main event of Bellator 185 last night, UFC vet Gegard Mousasi stepped into the Bellator […]
