Invicta FC 29 Results: Sarah Kaufman Wins a Belt, Julia Avila Gets a Nasty Injury

Invicta FC 29 was Friday night, and the all-female MMA promotion brought us the usual gleeful violence and technique – as well as a pretty nasty injury.

In the main event, UFC vet Sarah Kaufman just about ate opponent Katharina Lehner for dinner.

Kaufman tore her up on the feet, worked her over on the ground, and finally, in Round 3, tapped her out with a choke. Kaufman earned an Invicta bantamweight belt for her efforts.

Meanwhile, UFC vet Pearl Gonazalez got a submission win over Barbara Acioly earlier in the night, while relative unknowns Julia Avila and Marciea Allen fought for just under a minute for Avila suffered a compound fracture in her finger while parrying a kick. Yikes.

Dana White Says New York Gets First Dibs on Punishing Conor McGregor

It seems like just yesterday that Irish hooligan Conor McGregor was going nuts in Brookyln, smashing the windows of a van, and exiting the 78th Precinct as a guest of the New York City Police Department. Ah, we were so innocent then…

But alas, McGregor has long since been out on bail, and though he’s got a court date set, the smart money is on the UFC superstar never seeing the inside of a jail cell for his crimes. Which is whatever. It’s Conor – what do you expect?

However, there’s also the matter of the UFC themselves punishing McGregor for his sins. I mean, he did knock three fights off the UFC 223 card. So, are they going to suspend him? Fine him? Make him drink Xyience?

According the UFC boss Dana White, it’s all about the wait-and-see, as in, they’re going to wait and see what punishment New York State levies upon McGregor before they do anything.

Take it away, TMZ!

UFC 223 Primer: Embedded, Episode 1 – Khabib Gets the Bad News

The biggest story going into UFC 223 fight week isn’t that we’ll get to see if Rose Namajunas’ shocking knockout victory over former strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk was a fluke.

Nor is it whether or not the match-up between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will see Conor McGregor officially stripped of his undisputed lightweight belt, with the title going to the victor.

Nope. It’s all about Ferguson getting injured, and featherweight champ Max Holloway stepping in ON SIX DAYS NOTICE to face Nurmagomedov for McGregor’s belt.

This is what greatness is all about, folks. Holloway is stepping up for the sake of greatness, and if he somehow pulls off the win, you can bet he’s earned that huge money fight against the superstar Irishman.

Here’s the first episode of Embedded for the week, and of course the most notable thing is Nurmagomedov getting the news that Ferguson is out.
