John Dodson vs. John Lineker set in stone for UFC Fight Night 96 main event in Portland

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight title scene just got a little more interesting. UFC announced today (Sat., Aug. 13, 2016) that former Flyweight contenders John Dodson and John Lineker will headline UFC Fight Night 96 on Oct. 1 from Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It is funny that the two will now meet at 135 pounds after all this time with championship aspirations on the line.

Dodson, 31, lost two title bids opposite current Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in 2013 and 2015, but has since defeated Manvel Gamburyan via first-round knockout in his Bantamweight debut. He will look to leapfrog a handful of perennial contenders by using his unparalleled speed and athleticism to debunk the heavy-handed Lineker.

Speaking of “Hands of Stone,” defeating Dodson will give Lineker the last high-profile win he needs to challenge champion Dominick Cruz for divisional supremacy. Lineker, 26, just plastered Michael McDonald to the Octagon canvas at UFC Fight Night 91 with a vicious first-round knockout. He’s been an absolute force since making his Bantamweight debut in 2015 and will look to overpower Dodson with monstrous combinations.

UFC Fight Night 96 will also feature the likes of Will Brooks, Brian Ortega, Sergio Pettis, Bobby Green and Nate Marquardt.

UFC 202 ‘Diaz vs. McGregor 2′ video preview for August 20 PPV event in Las Vegas

Now that UFC Fight Night 92 is in the books — full results here — Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is all set to stage its next pay-per-view (PPV) event.

And it’s going to be a BIG one!

UFC 202 is all set to pop off from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Aug., 20, 2016 and will feature a much-anticipated Welterweight rematch between current Featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

It’s a matchup “Notorious” asked for after Diaz choked him into submission back at UFC 196 earlier this year (see it again here), putting a temporary halt to the previously unstoppable Irish freight train.

Plus, Glover Teixiera and Anthony Johnson will go toe-to-toe in a Light Heavyweight showdown for a chance to face division champion Daniel Cormier later this year.

Donald Cerrone will look to continue to prove he can hang with the big boys at 170 pounds against Rick Story.

UFC 202 ‘Diaz vs. McGregor 2′ video preview released for August 20 PPV event in Las Vegas

Now that UFC 201 is in the books — full results here — Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is all set to stage its next pay-per-view (PPV) event.

And it’s a good one!

UFC 202 is all set to go down from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Aug., 20, 2016 and will feature a much-anticipated rematch between current Featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz running it back at Welterweight.

Nate initially got the best of “Notorious” at UFC 196 earlier this year, putting a halt to his the Irish freight train by submitting him via rear-naked choke (see it again here). The rematch was supposed to go down at UFC 200 earlier this year, but because of “Mac’s” unwillingness to put in the media rounds, UFC was forced to reschedule.

Better late than never, I suppose.

Plus, Glover Teixiera and Anthony Johnson collide in a Light Heavyweight showdown for a chance at the division strap, while Donald Cerrone continues his assault in the 170-pound division against Rick Story.
