A few days after they went onto Twitter and agreed to a fight, the UFC has made it official: Stevie Ray vs. Paul Felder have a date in Glasgow.
The lightweights will square off at UFC Fight Night 113 in Scotland on July 16, the company announced on Friday.
Ray and Felder had a polite exchange on Twitter, agreeing to the bout earlier this week. And an interesting fight it should be. Ray brings a record of 21-6 into the bout with 14 stoppages. He’s 5-1 in the UFC and is on a two-fight win streak, most recently a majority decision victory over Joe Lauzon at UFC Fight Night 108.
Felder, meanwhile, brings a reputation for exciting fights, win or lose. Felder (13-3) is 5-3 in the UFC and has won three of his past four fights. In his most recent bout, he earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round TKO of Alexander Ricci at UFC Fight Night 105.
The fight card still doesn’t have a main event.
A second female fight has been added to UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro.
Pereira (12-0) successfully debuted in the Octagon in December, defeating Valerie Letourneau via split decision at UFC 206. Before signing with the promotion, “Sucuri” won 11 straight in Brazil, capturing belts as a strawweight and flyweight in the process.
Moyle (4-1) also holds a 1-0 record in the UFC after defeating Kailin Curran via unanimous decision last December. The 28-year-old fighter, who scored her previous three MMA victories under the Invicta FC banner, went 1-1 at the 23rd season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2016.
UFC 212 will feature featherweight champion Jose Aldo opposite interim titleholder Max Holloway in the main event. Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva is expected to co-headline the event against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
The upcoming Bellator 180 pay-per-view (PPV) event — which is slated to go down inside Madison Square Garden on June 24, 2017, in New York, N.Y. — is continuing to fill up.
During a recent interview on “The MMA Hour,” Bellator MMA President Scott Coker announced an intriguing Featherweight match up that will see rising contender James Gallagher take on Chinzo Machida on the undercard portion of the event, which is set to air on Spike TV.
Gallagher — who is a training partner of Conor McGregor at Straight Blast Gym — is undefeated (6-0), including winning his first three contests under the Bellator umbrella. As for his opponent, Machida — older brother to former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida — he has won his first two bouts with the Viacom-owned company and owns a 5-2 overall professional mixed martial arts (MMA) record.
For Gallagher, it’s one of the toughest bouts of his young MMA career, but as Coker stated during the announcement, the fiery Irishman won’t ever turn down an opponent.
Bellator 180 will be the promotion’s second-ever foray into PPV — and carries a $ 49.95 price tag — will be headlined by a much-anticipated Heavyweight showdown between Fedor Emelianenko and Matt Mitrione after their initial matchup was canceled earlier this year because of kidney stones. In addition, Chael Sonnen will settle his grudge with Wanderlei Silva, while Lorenz Larkin makes his company debut when he faces Douglas Lima or the Welterweight title. Also, Michael Chandler will defend his Lightweight belt against Brent Primus.
